The ears have been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent different diseases for over 2000 years in China. As recorded in the one and only renowned Chinese textbook called Huang Di Nei Jing, the ears were found to reflect the conditions of the internal organs and were linked to the pathways of our neural nodes (acupoints). However, the discoveries at that time were not that significant. It was not until 1959, when French physician, Dr. Paul Nogier discovered a relationship between ears and diseases that the study of human ears and their diagnostic values began to be popular in China.

Auricular acupuncture is based on the idea that our internal organs, tissue, limbs, brains, bones are all ‘mapped’ onto the external surface of the ear. In fact, the ears symbolize an upside down fetus. Therefore, by stimulating specific areas on the ear with acupuncture/intradermal needles, we can send a direct message to the central nervous system, through the cranial nerves on the auricle of the ear, to eliminate pathological effects or reverse the progression of illnesses. Auricular acupuncture is most often used for addiction, smoking cessation, weight loss, post-traumatic stress disorder, emotional issues, insomnia, chronic fatigue, and many more.
